CONSTRUCTION OF THE BILJANE DONJE WASTE MANAGEMENT CENTRE

The Biljane Donje Waste Management Centre (WMC) located on an area covering 46 hectares will collect waste occurring in the region of Zadar County and in a section of the Lika-Senj County (towns of Gospić and Novalja, including the municipalities of Karlobag, Perušić, Donji Lapac, Udbina and Lovinac) including: municipal, non-hazardous production and construction waste. Smaller quantities of hazardous waste, separated from municipal waste, and which are an essential product of human life and work, will be temporarily stored at the WMC and regularly forwarded for further treatment by authorised and specialised companies for collecting and processing of particular types of hazardous waste.

The Centre offers the high quality and surest alternative to existing depots because the envisaged mechanical-biological treatment of mixed municipal waste takes place at the highest European standards, and in addition, the treatment of construction waste also takes place. Moreover, an area will be prepared at the Centre for collecting and storage other types of waste.

The Waste Management Centre does not resolve only one type of wate, but all fractions of non-hazardous waste and particular fractions of “hazardous” waste from households (batteries, paints, lacquers, etc.) in smaller quantities.

The project to construct the Biljane Donje Waste Management Centre was co-financed from the Operational programme competitiveness and cohesion 2014-2020.
