CARRYING OUT WORKS ON VISITOR INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES – MLJET NATIONAL PARK

The aim of the project is construction of visitor infrastructure, procurement of equipment, education of employees, implementation of education content for visitors and promotion to raise the level of tourist appeal for the Nature Park and island of Mljet, the establishment of a sustainable model in maximising visits and use of natural heritage including raising awareness of natural and cultural values of the protected area in order to contribute to the economic wellbeing of the local community and sustainable development of the island of Mljet.

The fundamental infrastructural component of this project is the reconstruction and repurposing of the existing building including its interior refurbishment and design at the Gustijerna Interpretation and Exhibition Centre, and where in direct proximity to the location of the pier there are reconstructed and refurbished administration buildings, and in terms of which one of them (on the ground floor) has a developed area for a another somewhat smaller info centre. The project consists of reconstructing the walkway along the southern foreshore of Veliko jezero (Big Lake) and renovation of the parking area at the location of Vrbovica.

The project is financed with funds from the European Regional Development Fund through Measure 6c2.
