GRPAŠĆAK INTERPRETATION EDUCATION CENTRE

The project for the Grpašćak Interpretation Education Centre covers renewal of the fort built during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in the first half of the twentieth century, i.e., in 1911, and which served solely as a Military Outpost of the Austro-Hungarian navy. The Austro-Hungarian tower is in poor condition, hence a complete reconstruction is planned, whereas the other structures are adapted and transformed into a museum facility, conference halls, souvenir shops, an open-air children’s playground, and the like.

The project relates to the reconstruction, adaptation and refurbishment of the Grpašćak fort at the interpretation education centre in order to optimize visits to the Telašćica Nature Park, raising the quality and diversity of services offered by the Nature Park and Dugi otok, promotion and education for end users, for the purpose of developing the local community based on the principles of sustainable tourism.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.
