RECONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION OF ST. PETER’S BERTH IN THE PORT OF SPLIT
The Port of Split is the largest port in Dalmatia, and St. Peter's Berth is located on the central part of the eastern shore of the port. The project envisages the expansion of St. Peter’s Berth on the northern side and an extension to the west by approximately 53 meters. This will create new land-based operational areas with a total of five berths and five roll-on/roll-off ramps.
The aim of the project is to improve coastal traffic flow from the Port of Split by enabling the reception of larger vessels, reducing traffic congestion, and shortening the time required for embarking passengers and vehicles.
Additionally, prefabricated structures are planned to provide various services for passengers, including ticket sales, luggage storage, restrooms, a café bar, ATMs, information desks, and a staff cabin.
The new coastal structure will be a reinforced concrete frame system with drilled piles of 1.2 m in diameter, beams, and slabs, founded on solid rock.
The extension of the quay will consist of four sections:
Section A: Irregular shape, aligned with the ramp;
Section B: Width 8.8 m to 45 m, length 108 m;
Section C: Width 22.5 m, length 100 m;
Section D: Towards the west, width 16 m, length 53 m.
Project financing is partially secured through non-repayable European Union funds.
