RECONSTRUCTION AND EXTENSION OF THE NORTHERN PIER - THE FISHING PART OF THE PORT OPEN TO PUBLIC TRAFFIC IN THE CITY OF NOVALJA

At the end of October 2022, the services of the project manager for the reconstruction and extension of the northern breakwater-fishing part of the port open to public traffic in the City of Novalja began. The project plans a complete reconstruction of the northern pier with a total length of 279.59 m and an extension of the same by approx. 78 m, in such a way that on the outer side the protective stonework will be rebuilt with the size of stone blocks suitable for the conditions of the location, while on the inner side a fundamental reconstruction of the coastal walls by dismantling the existing ones and building on the new part of the pier. The final width of the pier of 20.90 m will enable the width of the promenade along the mooring shore and the road with a parking lot of 12.00 m, as well as a protective stone thrower on the outside of the parapet wall.

The ultimate goal of this project are permanent and safe moorings for fishing boats and small boats, a safe shelter and a safe and operational landing port for fishermen, as well as an increase in the length of the operational coast, which enables an increase in the capacity of the port and further development of fishing for the city of Novalja.

The project, with a total value of HRK 35,362,342.24, was co-financed with funds from the EU (75%) with the contribution of the Republic of Croatia (25%) in the remaining amount.
